SPECIAL: Ancient Wood Model #4417
The materials in this guitar are very exotic, ancient woods I've had around for decades. The back and sides are sycamore from a sunken log pulled from wetlands in Santa Cruz. The log was said to be carbon dated at 8,000 years old! The soundboard is an old German top probably more than a hundred years old, and the neck is Spanish cedar that came from an old gold rush era bar top salvaged in San Juan Bautista.
The construction is pretty standard and simple, solid top with 7 bar fan, 640 scale. The finish is a very light satin lacquer. The only nod to modern construction is the sound ports, which I always like. Overall the sound is just wonderful, with a mysterious quality that seems to resonate from eons. - Kenny Hill
